Organic Gifts. Incorporate the spirit of good will and gift-giving to include the planet this holiday season. It's impossible to think of the holidays without thinking of fresh baked goods, especially the treats that are baked in abundance at this time of year, like delicious pies, tarts, cookies, puddings, and holiday cakes. Many varieties of these end-of-the year necessities are organic, and the ingredients to make them from scratch are also available in organic forms.
There's no better time of the year to
promote your organics than the holidays! With a planned promotion, you can help your customers shop for the planet
this holiday season. Haddon House can help you encourage your shoppers to buy organic baking items (and more) this
time of year.
We carry a number of items for your baking aisle, as well as already-made baked goods, which fall into the organic
category, including flour, sugar, baking powder and soda, as well as dairy and fruits. Nothing tastes better than
organic cookies and pastries! How about a delicious organic holiday breakfast which includes organic eggs and bacon,
or something lighter, like a fresh organic apple-walnut muffin?
You might want to place some signage or flyers that make your customers very aware of your organics, as well as all
of the benefits of organic foods.
Depending on the merchandise in your store, you might want to consider
promoting other organic items for the holidays, as well. The spirit of giving is the perfect time to encourage good
will for the planet among your customers. Does your shop sell trees or wreaths? Consider selling ready-to-plant pine
trees, as well as organic holly, mistletoe and pine products. Ornaments really lend themselves to the organic movement
as well. Pomanders - oranges studded with cloves - make very fragrant organic decorations. Other
decorations made with grains, beans, and recycled materials are also readily available; you can also promote your
store's own grains for customers who enjoy making their own
ornaments and centerpieces.
Other standard holiday meal items, like organic hams and turkeys are also gaining popularity. Make sure your customers
are aware of them in your store!
Haddon House has an array of holiday items and a knowledgeable sales force to help you promote your organic foods
this time of year, so for more information, please contact your Haddon House sales representative.
To encourage customers toward your organic goods, it might be necessary
to remind them of all the benefits, personal and global, of organic foods.
Personal Health: Organic farming works with natural systems, using
composts, crop rotations, rock dusts, seaweeds, and microbes, to improve soils, promote healthy plant growth and increase food production.
Health of the Soil: Organic farming encourages diverse plantings,
works with crops that promote beneficial insects, and recycles nutrients with earthworms, composts and weeding.
Health of Our Communities: Pollution of our environment with poisons
is a problem in our society. Organic farming looks for ways to promote
fertility and health using non-toxic methods.
Health of Our Planet: Our personal health and the health of this world
that sustains us and millions of other creatures are closely interwoven.
Our farms and backyard gardens can be the sanctuaries for plants and
animals whose natural homes have been destroyed.
