The Kindess Project was started in 1997 by Joanne Cacciatore, after her daughter, Cheyenne's, death.
Cheyenne, like Catherine, was still at term; Joanne was compelled to keep her daughter's memory alive,
and to create a legacy. She wanted to help change the lives of others
because of Cheyenne's presence on earth.
On a daily basis, Joanne looked
for opportunities to reach out to do something unexpected and kind for someone else.
It brought her comfort to know that Cheyenne was the reason for the sense of peace and enlightenment she felt after helping others.
The idea behind the Kindness Project is to perform random acts of kindness
in your community, preferably anonymously.
The little card (see the next page) is left behind so that the person who benefits from the kindness knows that someone's
life and death matters. This has helped thousands of families to heal by finding a positive outlet for their overwhelming grief.
We hope that you'll consider doing some nice things for people in your community,
in memory of Katie.
