Here's another one of those bittersweet, though mostly sweet, changes we made to the house. Again, no offense to Jim, the former owner, but we flat-out despised the chandelier that came with the house. It was brass and had fake candles and just didn't suit us at all. We spent a lot of hours sitting under it, loathing, discussing possible replacement options. Glen found this at Home Depot, and it took a lot of work, but we were so happy to see the end of that old chandelier. The new fixture is functional too: it's an old house, without central air, and the fan really does a good job cooling down the room.
