In some ways, it's sad. It others, it's joyous. The former owner, Jim, had painted his bedroom yellow, and
had spent a lot of time putting up a wallpaper trim along the ceiling. It was not quite burgandy: it was kind of a dusty rose color, and filled with flowers. We didn't care for it much,
and I suppose I spent too much time plotting to get it out of there as quickly as possible, even though we still don't have a
firm plan for the rest of the room.
In January 2005, I had heard about a product called DIF, which is loaded with enzymes that eat away wallpaper paste, and knew right away,
I must get some. I got two bottles of it, and one night while Glen was out playing hockey, I climbed the ladder, with a scraper and DIF in hand, to
examine the wallpaper trim. I gave it a curious little pull, and whip! whip! whip! the wallpaper trim was down, with almost no effort!
I was thrilled that the work had gone with so quickly, but it dawned on me that Jim probably painstakingly and lovingly decorated
that room. To have hours and hours of worked ripped down in under three minutes seemed, well, kinda wrong.
Don't worry, I didn't feel badly for long. I don't even care that we'll have to prime that area, I'm just glad that trim is GONE.
DIF anyone?
