Click to view Family Tree online |
Family Tree. I've been busy updating the information that some of you have sent, and even more time figuring out the best way to expand this area. I'm using a genealogy program called Reunion, and it has generated the files you see to the left: the HTML document that's been posted for awhile (the top link, to the left), as well as a graphic chart and text version of the descendants of the furthest back ancestor I could find in each branch of the family. Each chart is a complete record from that ancestor, all the way to the recent babies in the family.
I'm hoping to update this site regularly, but I'll need your help. I've talked to a few of you recently about information
that you have. If you could send it to me, I'll assimilate it into these files and will update the website so we can all
enjoy the information. If it's easier, download the appropriate text file here, enter your information, and email it back to me.
About the files: All the files to the left are relatively small, as far as kilobytes go. The text files are smaller than the
jpgs, (handy info, in case you're using a dial-up). Despite the relatively small file size, the jpgs are quite large dimensionally: upwards
of 90 inches across, to accommodate all of the generations, siblings, etc. It makes printing a bit difficult, but they're nice
for looking at on screen. You'll just have to do a lot of scrolling!
On my dad's side, you'll notice William Renwick Blackwood's autobiography. He was my dad's grandfather, and he wrote his life
story in the 1960s. Even if you're not directly related, it's a pretty interesting story: among other things,
he served in the Spanish-American War, and has a lot of interesting observations. The file available for download is a PDF, which
should open for you, as long as you have a copy of Adobe Acrobat. If not, let me know, and I'll send you and/or post a text version.
I mention William Blackwood's story, too, because I'm hoping if have old letters, or family histories, you'll type them, scan them,
photograph them, and send them to me so I can post 'em here, too.
Enjoy, and again, email me if you have any trouble!
