Adventures in Real Estate.
Glen and I started selling stuff on eBay in 2003 to sock some money away so we could buy a house. Merchantville, while quaint and filled with lovely Victorian-style homes, was also filled with a lot of a-holes; to make matters worse, our landlord was a liar and a pig. See this under my Things That Suck section for a bit more on the landlord.

June 2004. Glen went to Canada to visit his parents. About an hour before he was due to come back, some scary Spanish guy shows up with a child and a weed-wacker and proceeds to slice down my morning glories. When I asked him to not kill my flowers, he tells me, aggressively, that he knows the difference between weeds and plants. The kid looked at me like I was insane. I went back inside. Awhile later, the Spanish guy, the child and the weedwacker were gone, along with my pansies, horseradish, a sunflower, the rest of the morning glories, and most of my peppermint.

Completely agitated and upset, it was not quite a happy homecoming when Glen got back. He arrived, and moments later Joe, the liar and pig, called and said his "landscaping guy" called him to tell him that I had chased him off the property. What a moron! Oh yeah, I was weepy and my garden looked like the moon's landscape, I did a great job of chasing him away, huh?!

Anyway, we decided, even though we hadn't saved as much as we had hoped, it was time to start looking. We found a realtor in the Pennsauken area, but she was not so good: she kept faxing Glen listings for utterly terrible properties. We'd get angry, and then I'd start to feel kind of badly. I mean, tarpaper shacks in Sicklerville are heaven to a lot of people.

On a whim, Glen started looking on realtor.com, and came across a listing in Trenton. It looked good. Displeased with our current realtor, I emailed Weichert's Donna Luccarelli, the agent for the Trenton house. She called while I was at work, and Glen talked to her for some time, and she insisted that we see the place the next day. And of course, here we are now.
